Thank you to Claire Turner for sharing this wonderful picture of 'The Lavender Rainbow'.

We are delighted to announce that Lavender has recently been awarded the Gold Science Quality Mark. This is a great achievement following a lot of hard work by all our staff and children, in particular, our Science Co-ordinator Miss Whiteoak and is a true reflection of all the wonderful science that is taking place across our school.

Please see our new Fundraising page under the Community tab to find ways that you can help us to raise money for the school. All support very much appreciated!

Parent consultations

These will take place during one evening and during one afternoon. (Wednesday 28th and Thursday the 29th of March 2018). Please note that school will finish early on Thursday 29th (12pm) to allow the afternoon consultations to run. There will be no afterschool club on that day.

You will get a letter nearer the time asking you to choose an option for a time slot.

We look forward to seeing you there.

As part of our Letter-join handwriting scheme, any of our pupils wishing to practise their handwriting at home can now log in to the Letter-join website on iPads and tablets as well as desktop and laptop computers. There you will find the same, easy-to-use handwriting resources as we use at school.

For details of how to log in, see our Online Learning page under the Learning Zone tab.

At the end of last year we made an application to Tesco to take part in their 'Bags of Help' Grant Scheme, in order to obtain funding to develop and enhance our outdoor learning curriculum.

Ms Daley

It is estimated that £50m available for children eligible for free school meals is unclaimed within the London region alone. We are therefore introducing a new system for checking eligibility which will involve parents entering a few details into a website that links directly to the DfE checking system and gives an immediate response.

As a thank you for this, London Grid for Learning will provide parents with Sophos AntiVirus software, free of charge, to protect the computers used by pupils at home.

For more information, see the Parent information page under the Community tab.

Please can we remind you that there are legal age limits for different applications and websites to help protect children from online danger or risk. Some apps add new features that increase the risk for your children, such as the new Snapchat 'Snap Map'. This feature can make your location visible to others, including strangers!

It is very important that you know and monitor what your child is accessing on the internet. Please let us know if children are using social media inappropriately to upset others, even though it is happening outside school time. We continue to teach our e-safety curriculum but do please come and speak to us if you would like further support or have any questions about keeping your child safe online.

Thank you.

Tax-free childcare

This is a new government scheme to help eligible parents with the cost of childcare through an online childcare account. For every £8 you put into this account, the government will add an additional £2.  For more information, please look on our Parental information page under the Community tab.

E-safety leaflet - advice for parents and carers

On our Parental information page under the Community tab and on our Safeguarding page under the About us tab, you will find a useful leaflet about keeping your children safe online. This information supports the work that we do in school about e-safety. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

How are we doing?

Dear Families,

Just a reminder that our validated data is available to view on the government website:

You will see that Lavender’s attainment at KS2 for English and Maths combined is again above the national figure! We were also above the national figure for phonics again, and have been since the test was introduced. Our Foundation Stage results and KS1 results were also very pleasing.

Our areas for development, this year, include ensuring that: our higher achieving boy readers make excellent progress and our disadvantaged pupils attain well in all subjects.

Do come and speak to us if you have any concerns about your child’s progress.

Safeguarding Reminder - any images taken at our events are for personal use only and must not be uploaded to any form of social media. Thank you.

POLICIES  Some of our policies are being updated and we will keep you informed of changes. See them by clicking on the Policies tab on the 'About us' page.

Take a look at the school news page on this website to keep up to date with everything else that is happening at Lavender.
