London's Biggest Breakfast!
Ten of our Breakfast Club children had an early start on Thursday 18th September as they took part in London’s Biggest Breakfast celebration, organised by the Mayor’s fund for London. They arrived at Marks and Spencer in Enfield Town at 8am for a nutritious breakfast. After breakfast, the children took part in a healthy eating quiz and were given a tour of the store with the opportunity to ask members of staff about their jobs. Later on, the children were trained on how to use the tills and how to dress store mannequins for a particular purpose. In order to be successful in these tasks, the children had to put their scientific and mathematical knowledge into practice as well as their team work skills.
The children were an absolute pleasure to take and members of Marks and Spencer staff spoke very highly of them. They all had a thoroughly enjoyable time and even made the news on the Enfield Independent's website! Click here to view the article.
Lavender's Got (so much) Talent 2014!
The amazing show put on by the finalists in our annual competition proved, yet again, that Lavender certainly does have talent! Fifteen incredible acts wowed the audience with music, singing, comedy, dancing, gymnastics and acting. Well done to everyone who shared their talents! The standard was unbelievably high but after much argument and deliberation the judges crowned 2 acts as runners up and, in an unprecedented move, 3 acts shared the joint first place position!
Joint first prize winners were: Ilayda, our singer/ guitarist; Molly, our singer/ pianist; and Callum and Max, our comedy duo.
Joint runners up were: Kalina and Danny, our Bulgarian dancers; and Vanshi, Jayden and Madison, our singing trio.
Many thanks to everyone who entered, to our special guest performers from Platinum Performing Arts, to the finalists who performed, families who came to support and staff who acted as judges and helpers. Particular thanks must go to Dizzy Russell (aka Mr Russell) and Lady Lala (aka Miss James), our wonderful hosts, and of course Miss Lloyd whose organisation, hard work and dedication make the whole event possible. In the words of Simon Cowell (aka Mr. Kleiner-Mann), “Keeley Lloyd, you are magnificent!”
Top science teacher
