Lavender's Got (so much) Talent!

The amazing show put on by the finalists in our annual competition proved, yet again, that Lavender certainly does have talent! Fifteen incredible acts wowed the audience with music, singing, comedy, dancing, gymnastics and acting. Well done to everyone who shared their talents! The standard was unbelievably high but after much argument and deliberation the judges crowned 2 acts as runners up and, in an unprecedented move, 3 acts shared the joint first place position!

Joint first prize winners were: Ilayda, our singer/ guitarist; Molly, our singer/ pianist; and Callum and Max, our comedy duo

Joint runners up were: Kalina and Danny, our Bulgarian dancers; and Vanshi, Jayden and Madison, our singing trio

Many thanks to everyone who entered, to our special guest performers from Platinum Performing Arts, to the finalists who performed, families who came to support and staff who acted as judges and helpers. Particular thanks must go to Dizzy Russell (aka Mr Russell) and Lady Lala (aka Miss James), our wonderful hosts, and of course Miss Lloyd whose organisation, hard work and dedication make the whole event possible. In the words of Simon Cowell (aka Mr. Kleiner-Mann), “Keeley Lloyd you are magnificent!”

On Wednesday 18th December the staff got together to perform 'Lavenderella', a pantomime written by Miss Shallcross and Mrs Lorkins. The audience, as you will see from the clips below, thoroughly enjoyed the whole show!

Chess Tournament

On Friday 29th November, we hosted our fourth Enfield chess tournament. It was a fantastic event attended by the Mayor and the local press. 18 schools turned up to do battle all day and Lavender came a very respectable fourth place. We would like to congratulate all the players in our team: Thomas, Joseph, Vanshi, David, Madison and Isaac. They had great team spirit and showed all of our core values throughout the day.

Summer Reading challenge trophy

On Wednesday 18th December, Lavender School was presented with the Enfield Summer Reading Challenge trophy for having the most participants in the Summer Reading Challenge in the whole of the borough!

Lamby our new school dog!

On Monday 2nd December, something very exciting happened at Lavender - we welcomed our very own school dog! Lamby is a Bichon Frise puppy who spends the time that she is not in school living with Mrs McLaren. Bichon Frises are small dogs which are well known for being wonderful with people, particularly children, which is why this breed was selected. As well as being a school pet, Lamby helps to teach children different skills and provide therapeutic support where appropriate. She is based in Mrs McLaren's room (the Numbers Count room) but also regularly visits other areas of school and works with different groups of children, always under the supervision of a responsible adult.
